Lenoir Police arrested a Morganton man Friday after over a dozen counterfeit $100 bills were seized at a Lenoir restaurant. 58-year old Tommy Gregory Edmisten was charged with possession of five or more counterfeit instruments and attempting to obtain property by false pretense. The Investigation leading up to the arrest began two days earlier, when Lenoir Police received a complaint of counterfeit currency from the FATZ Restaurant on Blowing Rock Road.  Management informed officers that Edmisten attempted to pay for a meal with a counterfeit $100 dollar bill.  Officers interviewed Edmisten at the restaurant and seized a total of seventeen counterfeit $100 dollar bills, then arrested Edmisten on an unrelated outstanding warrant from Burke County for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.  The Secret Service then joined the investigation, and Edmisten was charged Friday, and placed in the Caldwell County Detention Center under a $20,000 dollar secure bond.  Investigators said the probe is on-going, more arrests pending.
