On the evening of June 16th the Avery County 911 center received several calls about a white Ford Ranger running other cars off the roadway in the Linville area.  Officers with the Avery County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area and located sixty year old Bill Buckner of Vale, North Carolina on the Linville Bypass driving the vehicle.  Officers observed the vehicle driving on the wrong side of the roadway and made a traffic stop.  Officers noticed a strong odor of alcohol on the Mr. Buckner and that he was unsteady on his feet.  Investigation by the responding Officers showed that Buckner had several previous DWI convictions.  Buckner was arrested and charged with felony DWI and placed under a $10,000.00 bond at the Avery County Jail.
