A high speed chase ended in Avery County this morning after a vehicle, said to have been stolen, was chased by Carter County Tennessee across the state line and into Avery County.  With enough lead time, Avery and Newland officers set stop sticks across both lanes of US 19E, and the suspect was forced off of the highway onto Old Mill Road where he tried to ditch the vehicle.  There, Newland Police Jason Brown was able to grab and cuff the suspect, ending the drama without injury or crash.  The chase had speeds of 80 to 85 miles per hour as it crossed the state line from Carter County into Avery, but with the Avery help, the car was recovered and the suspect taken into custody.
