in America, and this change was reflected on college campuses all around this country- but, it would be one in particular: Kent State..."

-The Tragedy at Kent State

Tonight’s staged reading of the Tragedy at Kent State is a first for Boone. In fact, it’s a first for the globe. Written by Appalachian State University Professor and Kent State alum Ray Miller, the play to be presented is a work in progress, and audience members will have the opportunity to shape it before it hits full production. It’s a personal piece for Miller, who narrowly avoided the shooting while walking to class. It’s also a personal piece for actors like performance major Mary Beth Hoots.

"I think it parallels many events that are happening in today's society, including Iraq. I think it's a very important show and people should come see it," Hoots said.

The play chronicles the days before the shootings.

The show is free- but crowds are expected, so arrive early. It all happens tonight at Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Greer Studio Theatre on the ASU campus.
