Carolinians unhappy with war PDF Print
Sunday, 09 September 2007 20:00
According to a survey conducted by the Charlotte Observer and WCNC News, Carolinians are unhappy with President George Bush’s handling of the war in Iraq.
The Carolinas Poll surveyed over a thousand residents of North and South Carolina last month. 49.5 percent of those polled disapproved of Bush’s handling of the war effort, while 27.5 percent approved. Last year’s survey showed 49 percent disapproval and 33 percent approval. National polls tend to show higher disapproval. A CBS August poll, for example, showed 69 percent disapproval and 26 percent approval of Bush’s handling of Iraq. Experts say the difference in state numbers could reflect the concentration of military bases and retirees in the Carolinas. 55 percent of the poll’s respondents would like to see U.S. troops out of Iraq within a year, the Carolinas Poll showed.
