Ashe man wants to 'bridge the partisan divide' PDF Print
Tuesday, 04 September 2007 06:42

Ashe County’s Roy Carter has officially announced his candidacy for Congress.

The lifelong Democrat is the head football coach for North Wilkes High School. In a statement released to the press earlier today, Carter said he is truly honored to run for Congress.

“I grew up in these mountains,” he said, “I have raised a family in Western North Carolina, and I know the kind of struggles that our citizens face daily.”

Carter's press release says his campaign is "committed to bridging the partisan divide that has polarized the 5th district in recent years."

The 5th district includes Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Davie, Surry, Stokes, Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin counties, as well as portions of Forsyth, Iredell and Rockingham.
