Friday, 24 August 2007 12:09

"In light of the continued drought status of our area and the lack of significant rainfall and the continued monitoring of the water levels

that are intaked and after consulting with our regulatory authorities, the Town of Boone finds it necessary to officially declare stage one voluntary water shortage conditions," Mayor Loretta Clawson announced today.

Stage 1 is voluntary- but Clawson says citizens need to take it seriously.

"It may become necessary next week to make it mandatory," she said.

The voluntary condition calls for residents to take several precautions.

"Limit car washing to a minimum, limit lawn and garden watering, do not wash outside areas," she said. For a full list of ways to be cautious- read the complete declaration.
