With part of the High Country in severe drought, officials are closely monitoring raw water intake.
Usage monitoring has increased once daily until rain hits.
Boone Public Utilities Director Rick Miller says if the drought continues- Boone may face mandatory water restrictions.
Right now, Boone is under a voluntary water conservation.
By conserving water- Boone residents can help prevent a water shortage.
Simple ways you can help, he says, are by turning water off while brushing teeth and waiting to run dishwashes and clothes washers until they are completely full.Residents are also asked to limit car washes and landscape watering. If you must irrigate your land because of the dry weather- do it in the morning or evening hours when the water is less likely to evaporate, he says.
