Man with local ties- dies in Iraq PDF Print

The son-in-law of a local couple was killed in Iraq.

A report released Friday stated that 24-year-old Lt. John Edds died of injuries from a homemade explosive device while leading his division on patrol in Baghdad. Edds was a native of White Pigeon, Michigan and had been in Iraq since March. Edds married Laura Russell, daughter of Ray and Rhonda Russell of Boone. The Edds family called Auburn Alabama home. Parkway Elementary School had been sending Edds care packages. Approximately 162,000 U.S. troops are currently on active duty in Iraq.
