Dole to visit Caldwell PDF Print
Sunday, 19 August 2007 20:00
On a related note, Tuesday, Senator Elizabeth Dole plants to meet with Sheriffs from Caldwell, Catawba, Burke and Alexander counties to discuss the challenges of dealing with illegal aliens who have committed crimes and what federal resources can help address these and other issues. Dole will also hear about the difficulties sheriffs face when fighting crimes, such as drinking and driving, drug smuggling and gang-related activity committed by illegal aliens. She also plans to talk with sheriffs about how they can take advantage of the 287 program- a program which enables trained local law enforcement to receive authority from immigration and Customs Enforcement to process illegal aliens who have committed crimes, and other available tools to help them enforce laws. The meeting is planned for the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday at 11:50 a.m.
