|Sheriffs attend conference|

Avery County sheriff Kevin Frye was among the 80 sheriffs in attendance last week at the North Carolina Sheriff’s Association Annual Conference.While workshops on management were valuable- there are lots of reasons such conferences are important, according to Frye.
Sheriffs are given up-to-date information on Raleigh legislation that affects law enforcement.
The Association then decides as a group to support or not support certain legislation.
Sheriffs also network- talking about common issues that affect several sheriffs' jurisdictions.
Among other sheriffs in attendance were Len Hagaman of Watauga County and James Williams of Ashe County.
