Baptist Hospital Helicopter: Out of Service PDF Print
Sunday, 29 July 2007 20:00
Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center’s helicopter is awaiting repair- and not taking off anytime soon.
According to a Baptist Medical Center spokesperson, the helicopter was being transported on the bed of a truck when it came in contact with a highway overpass. The helicopter suffered significant damage, and is now in a secure area at Smith Reynolds airport awaiting repair. In the meantime, two other helicopters based in other parts of the state are currently serving Baptist. A replacement helicopter should be based in the Triad by the end of the week. The spokesman said the incident will not impact emergency response times.
