The Banner Elk Chamber of Commerce 2016 Concerts in the Park

Banner Elk
Lawn chairs begin appearing in the park around noon, and the sea of smiling faces start filing into the concert area well before the 6:30pm concert begins. Each year since it began in 1999, the concerts have been more popular than the year before. This year the chamber expects attendance between 900-1200 people per concert. The bands are chosen by the Banner Elk Chamber Concert Committee, headed Mary Jo Brubaker, and assisted by Sarah Brewer and Dan Brubaker. They select a variety of bands, always looking for bands with a full sound, great vocals and dance tunes. This year many bands are returning and a few new bands have been added to the lineup. The first concert, on June 23rd, kicks off with a local band, the Dave Calvert Collective. Playing driving rock n roll, leader Dave Calver has been in many bands over the years including the Whip Daddies. Sponsoring the concert are two local businesses Silver Springs Farm and Life Care Center of Banner Elk. Silver Springs Farm offers beautiful residential homesites, and office space rentals. Life Care Center of Banner Elk is a nursing home community that provides high quality care in a lovely facility. A variety of food vendors will be in the park, this year expect to see bbq, pizza, coffee, flavored ice, kettle corn and more. Local restaurants offer Thursday night take out specials to concert goers and many people bring picnics from home. For more information visit www.bannerelk.org or call 828-898-8395.
