State Unemployment Falls Below 9%

The state’s seasonally adjusted April unemployment rate is finally back below 9%, decreasing to 8.9 percent from March’s revised rate of 9.2 percent. Injuries in Three-Vehicle Crash on 105 Bypass

Two Hurt in Ashe Evening Crash

Two Ashe county residents were injured in a crash last night just north of West Jefferson. The state patrol says that the wreck occurred at about 9:30 as Joshua Maine, 25, of Creston, lost control of the ’94 Subaru Justy he was driving toward Radio Hill on NC 194, the car crashing into a ditch and flipping.
