Fred Whitt Leaving ASU To Become President of LRU

Fred Whitt, Founding Dean and Professor of the Beaver College of Health Sciences (BCHS) at Appalachian State, is leaving the Appalachian to become the President of Lenoir-Rhyne University, with an anticipated start date in early February, 2017.

Whitt was named Dean of the Beaver College of Health Sciences in 2010. In an email to faculty and staff, Provost Darrell Kruger said an interim Dean will be named in the next few weeks, and the University will launch a national search for a permanent hire in the spring of 2017.

The Watauga Democrat reports Dr. Whitt was introduced to the Lenoir-Rhyne community Oct. 24th, and will be succeeding the presidency of Dr. Wayne B. Powell.
