CCC&TI English Instructor Nancy Posey recently traveled with relief organization Healing Hands International to an area near Port-au-Prince, Haiti where she worked with local teachers.

Freda Nicholson knows a lot about firsts. She was the first president and CEO of Discovery Place, one of Charlotte’s top museums. As a result, she was also one of the first women to helm a major metropolitan museum in the U.S.

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Compass Students recently competed in the Cheer LTD Nationals at CANAM Competition in Myrtle Beach S.C. in both the cheer and dance categories.

A $250,000 grant from Wells Fargo will support the Dr. Willie C. Fleming Endowed Scholarship Fund at Appalachian State University, created to provide scholarships to underrepresented students. The grant will be made over a two-year period and counts towards the $200 million Campaign for Appalachian.

The Blue Ridge Electric Members Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2014 grant cycle and will continue through the application deadline date of August 31, 2014.
