Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s TRIO/Educational Talent Search program hosted an induction ceremony Monday, Nov. 16 for new students at the college’s J.E. Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir. The program officially welcomed 121 students from middle and high schools across Caldwell County as part of the event.

Stephen Shoemaker's print of the old Ashe County Memorial Hospital on McConnell Street in Jefferson, which was adapted for use on the publication, can be seen in many homes and businesses in Ashe County. The story behind the painting is one of many that make up the rich history of Ashe County's hospital.  Inside the cover, the names of many Ashe County families fill the pages of this account of the community's heroic efforts to build a hospital of its own.
