Hardin Park School kicked off their 4-week Walking Wednesday program last Wednesday and students and staff continue to increase physical activity and help improve air quality on campus.

Lloyd Arneach to Share the Art of Cherokee Storytelling at BRAHM April 29

April 19, 2016 — Blowing Rock, NC — On April 29 at 7:30 p.m., Cherokee storyteller Lloyd Arneach will be sharing the ancient art of live storytelling at the Blowing Rock Art & History Museum (BRAHM) in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. Arneach will share stories from the Native American tradition as well as tales of other people from all walks of life.

A dedication ceremony will be held to celebrate the formal opening of Watauga County's latest recreational asset - a greenway connecting Brookshire Park, traveling under U.S. 421, to the adjacent paddle access for the South Fork of the New River.

The students of Appalachian State University have started an ongoing protest against UNC system President, Margaret Spellings’ and her decision to enforce new state law HB2.

The Music Educator Award is presented at the Grammys by the Recording Academy and the Grammy Foundation. A total of 4,500 initial nominations were submitted from across the U.S. This year’s award was given to Appalachian State Alumni, Phillip Riggs, who currently teaches at North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in Durham, N.C.
