Throughout these summer months be on the lookout for Thursday “Spirit Events” at some of your favorite local restaurants to benefit the Watauga Back 2 School Festival.

The Blowing Rock Art and History Museum (BRAHM) features an exhibit on the Blowing Rock Horse Show this summer thanks to the work of Appalachian State University students.

Blowing Rock Mayor J.B. Lawrence was elected to a three year term on the Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation’s Board of Directors during Thursday’s annual meeting.

In partnership with the Watauga Substance Abuse Prevention coalition (WSAP), six Watauga High School students attended the Carolina Youth Leadership Initiative (CYLI) at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina, June 12 -14.

“The opioid epidemic is one of the most pressing public health issues in the United States today,” said U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia M. Burwell in a statement March 11.
