To help older adults learn how to prevent falls, Appalachian State University’s BlueShield of North Carolina Institute for Health and Human Services will begin offering free monthly CHAMP screenings at the Lois E. Harrill Senior Center April through November.

On Memorial Day, May 26th, 2014, Hospitality House and Western Youth Network (WYN) will be teaming up to host a 5K Color Run/Walk to raise funds, awareness, and support for families and youth in our community.

Registration is open for the ZAP Fitness Girls on the Run 5K to be held May 3 at 10:30 a.m. The non-competitive run will begin at Appalachian State University’s Kidd Brewer Stadium and follow a mostly flat course through campus.

Finalists have been selected for the annual Chris Austin Songwriting Contest, hosted by MerleFest 2014. Now in its 22nd year, the contest is an extraordinary opportunity for aspiring writers to have their original songs heard and judged by a panel of music industry professionals,

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will begin registering new students for the Summer 2014 semester on April 10 on both the Caldwell and Watauga Campuses. Final registration for summer will be held on Tuesday, May 13. Summer classes begin on Thursday, May 15.
