The Watauga County Public Library’s Library Scavenger Hunt won the Best Program for Children award for FY 2014-2015, as presented by the North Carolina Library Directors Association. Lisa Flanigan, Youth Services Specialist, implemented the scavenger hunt.
The Library Scavenger Hunt is an ongoing program put on by the Children’s Department. Children are given a list of questions and clues and invited to search around the Children’s area of the library to find the answers. While doing this, they learn about the subject of the month, as well as about the kinds of books and other resources the library has for them.
Presenting “An Appalachian Christmas” for its final concert of the season has become a holiday tradition for Joe Shannon’s Mountain Home Music. This marks the 19th year that this free concert offers the opportunity for local musicians to give back to the High Country community - celebrating the real “reason for the season”. Come share in the giving spirit of the holidays as once again all money collected at this benefit show will go to two local charities known for helping those less fortunate – The Hospitality House and Santa’s Toy box. The concert takes place on Saturday, December 5th at Grace Lutheran Church in Boone at 7:30pm.
