The Board of Education meeting Tuesday July 12th included recognition for 2016-17 Watauga County Schools Teacher of the Year Martha Trimble and presentation of an Education Partnership Award to Smart Products for their sustained and generous support of Special Olympics in Watauga County. 

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute celebrated a new class of Electrical Linemen with a completion ceremony on Friday, July 1 at the JE Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir.

AARP will offer the nation’s first and largest driver safety classroom refresher course geared especially to older adults’ driver safety needs.

Mosquito-and tick-borne diseases are most commonly acquired from June to September, but residents of Alleghany, Ashe and Watauga Counties can “Tip and Toss” to eliminate mosquito breeding areas and take preventive measures to reduce the likelihood of mosquito and tick bites.
