The Hunger and Health Coalition will be holding its first ever HALLOWEEN MASQUERADE BALL on Friday, October 30th at the Meadowbrook Inn and Suites. This will truly prove to be an evening of tricks and treats complete with dancing to great music throughout the night as well as performances by Ensemble Stage and ASU Theatre Department.
For twenty-two years, Joe Shannons Mountain Home Music has been presenting concerts in the High Country, but JSMHMs upcoming show Wayfaring Strangers, will mark two first for this popular entertainment series. It will be the first time of holding a show on a Monday night and the first time JSMHM has staged a multi-media event and this one features a book! Yes, thats right the star of this production is the New York Times Best Seller Wayfaring Strangers: The Musical Voyage from Scotland and Ulster to Appalachia by Fiona Ritchie and Doug Orr.
BOONE, N.C. September 28, 2015: For the fifth consecutive year the High Country Turkey Trot 5K will take place Thanksgiving morning on the Boone Greenway Trail at the Clawson-Burnley Park entrance. This year, for the first time, fully automatic chip timing will be utilized for the 5K Race. The race will kick off at 9:00am with the Fun Run, for casual runners, joggers and walkers immediately following. Hearts of Hospitality House, the ladies ambassador group for Hospitality House, is helping to organize the event with 100% of proceeds going to provide food, shelter and life-changing services to individuals and families living in need.

That is the question on the minds of David Johnson and the legendary country band, Dixie Dawn, as they kick off the Joe Shannons Mountain Home Musics Fall Concert Season on Saturday night, October 3rd at the Blowing Rock School Auditorium. The doors open at 7pm and this much anticipated Dixie Dawn concert begins at 7:30pm. Johnson and the band always pick a theme for their special JSMHM yearly performance, and with the lost this past year of some of Country Musics biggest stars, they decided to pay tribute to many of their musical heroes.
