Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Continuing Education and Workforce Development divison has announced several upcoming hobby and personal interest courses. The college has also announced that gift certificates for continuing education courses are available for the holidays. Following is a schedule of upcoming courses.

Watauga High School will host “Eighth Grade Parent Nights” for current eighth graders and their parents or legal guardians on two dates in January, with each date reserved for students and parents from specific schools.

Boone, NC : The Downtown Boone Development Association and the Watauga County Library are delighted to once again host a Winter Holiday downtown Boone Story Walk. The downtown Boone Winter Holiday Story Walk runs from December 11 through January 4. Families, schools and community groups are encouraged to participate in this family, friendly downtown event.  

Watauga High School Spanish Teacher Carmen Scoggins is the recipient of the national Award for Excellence in Foreign Language Instruction Using Technology, presented by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) and the International Association for Language Learning Technology (IALLT). Scoggins, who also teaches at ASU, said she is proud of the award “as a reflection of how the faculty at Watauga High School works very hard to serve our students as well as we possibly can, including through continuous innovations in the effective use of instructional technology.”

December 11, 2015 — Blowing Rock, NC — The Blowing Rock Art and History Museum (BRAHM) invites children aged 6 years and older to a two-day puppet-making workshop with artist Julie DelRosso on two consecutive Mondays: January 4 and 11.
