The 15th Annual Martin and Doris Rosen Summer Symposium on Remembering the Holocaust will be held July 23-28 in Appalachian State University’s Plemmons Student Union.  This year’s symposium puts a particular emphasis on the roles and struggles of women in the Holocaust and explores the significance of gender in this genocide.

The Town of Boone and the High Country Chapter of the Military Officers’ Association of America continue efforts toward the new Downtown Boone veteran’s memorial.

The Board of Education meeting Tuesday July 12th included recognition for 2016-17 Watauga County Schools Teacher of the Year Martha Trimble and presentation of an Education Partnership Award to Smart Products for their sustained and generous support of Special Olympics in Watauga County. 

The Boone Moose Lodge 1805 is inviting motorcyclists from around the region to take part in the third annual "Ride for Kids" on July 23rd, beginning at 9:00 am at the Boone Moose Lodge.

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute celebrated a new class of Electrical Linemen with a completion ceremony on Friday, July 1 at the JE Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir.
