Community and Business

The week we now call “I Have a Dream Week” began 23 years ago, when a group of concerned residents in our community organized a silent protest of a Ku Klux Klan rally in Boone and Blowing Rock.  That group grew into the I Have a Dream Task Force.

The Blowing Rock Art & History Museum has announced that it will be hosting Mini Matinees, a new family friendly music and theatre series, one Sunday a month, January through March.

The Blowing Rock Art & History Museum invites birders, naturalists, conservationists, and anyone interested in learning something new to the Museum’s next Scholars and Scones program, Birds of the High Country: Amazing Stories from a Remarkable Place, on Thursday, January 21, 11 am.

The Boone Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its January Business After Hours on the 28th at the LaQuinta Inn.

This class had the highest participation of any class participating in an ASU summer reading program and recently hosted some special visitors that helped celebrate their achievement. Several players from the ASU women's basketball team, along with Yosef, the ASU mascot, came to the school to recognize the students' work and to reinforce the message that reading is both important and enjoyable.
