The Digital Watauga Project is pleased to announce that it will sponsor an exhibition of the Bobby Brendell Postcard Collection at the Jones House Community Center during the month of February 2016. This free exhibition will feature more than 60 postcards from Brendell’s collection of over 400 postcards that already have been digitized by Digital Watauga. A public reception for the exhibition will be held on Friday, February 5, 2015, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm in the Jones House main gallery.

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Culinary Arts program has announced the dates and menus for its spring semester installment of Caldwell Cuisine. Each of the meals will be served at 6 p.m. at the J.E. Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir and are priced at $21 plus tax per person. The events are open to the public, but diners are required to purchase tickets prior to the event.

Mississippi Furniture Xpress in Hildebran recently established an endowment through the Foundation of Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute. The Bill and Rose Dietz Scholarship will provide tuition for CCC&TI truck driver training students. 

Watauga High School's JROTC Competitive Drill Team won first place out of nine teams in the Elite Division of the Daniel Boone Invitational in Gray, Tennessee January 16th.  This competition featured twenty two JROTC drill teams from five states.  Watauga's team placed in every category it competed, including first in Color Guard and Armed Drill Squad, second in Unarmed Drill Squad, and third in Personnel Inspection on the way to its championship of the Elite Division. 

     Area high school seniors whose parents are telephone service subscribers of SkyLine Membership Corporation and SkyBest Communications may apply for national scholarships available through Foundation for Rural Service (FRS).
