Green Drinks Boone on July 12 Hosted by Upper Watauga RiverKeeper / Appalachian Voices in Sugar Grove

The July 12th meeting of Green Drinks Boone will be hosted by Upper Watauga Riverkeeper Donna Lisenby at her newly constructed home in Sugar Grove. Donna’s home was designed by Boone Architect Amy Tyson and Donna’s partner Nita O’Brien.  It was constructed by Sunny Day Homes with featured elements made by local craftsmen and suppliers, many of whom will be on hand to answer questions about their work. “Wine & Wickets” to Benefit the High Country Women’s Fund August 21st

Linville, NC –The High Country Women’s Fund invites the public to its inaugural Croquet Tournament at the Eseeola Lodge Croquet Court on August 21st.  Registration begins at 1:00 pm and play starts at 2pm. Members of the High Country Women’s fund are organizing this event to raise money and awareness of their mission to inspire, educate and empower women toward self-sufficiency.

WATAUGA COUNTY RANKS 7TH IN STATE RECYCLING TOTALS

Watauga County ranks 7th  in the state for recycled materials recovery out of 100 total counties according to a recent report released by the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources (NC DENR).  Watauga County has ranked 8th and 9th respectively in the state for the two previous years. Steppin' Up for Yellow Mountain

With the shrinking of state, local, and county funds, most agencies are feeling the pinch—or the bite—or the crash, depending on the impact on their budgets.  In Avery County, one organization is launching an effort to make back $25,000 of the funds they will be missing from state and local budgets with “Step Up for Yellow Mountain,” an event this weekend.

ACT Readers Theatre To Present Annual Courtroom Drama
