Joe Shannon’s Mountain Home Music Indoor Summer Concert Series is proud to announce the return of one of the High Country’s most popular trio’s – Strictly Clean and Decent. Fans of this dynamic group of talented musicians know that when SC&D rolls into town, an entertaining evening of musical variety and laughs will take center stage. This go-round, Strictly Clean and Decent will be joined by three of the most impressive young performers in Western North Carolina: multi-instrumentalist, Liam Purcell from Deep Gap; guitarist, Presley Barker from Traphill; and singer/song writer, Alyssa McLean from Lenior.

BOONE: Local girls in grades 3 through 8 are invited to participate in Girls on the Run of the High Country (GOTR-HC). Registration for the fall semester will begin online Aug.10 at www.gotr.appstate.edu and the program will begin the week of Sept. 8.

BLOWING ROCK N.C. (August 2015) – The 2014 running of the Stick Boy Mayview Madness drew more than 320 preregistered runners, ages 3 to 84, including more than 60 under 13. This year’s event takes place here on Saturday, September 19 on a course that winds through the historic Mayview neighborhood, with magnificent views along the route. With average race day high and low temperatures of 67 and 49 respectively, conditions should be perfect for running.
