A $100,000 gift from Yadkin Bank to Appalachian State University’s Walker College of Business will support the college’s Honors Convocation, an annual event and reception attended by the college’s highest academically achieving students, their families and members of the business faculty.

The Hardin Park School Gold Team has won the elementary grades championship in the Watauga County Schools Battle of the Books competition held Tuesday, March 18th, duplicating the achievement of a different Hardin Park Gold Team in the middle school Battle of the Books held one week earlier.

The Watauga High School Honors Chorus and Advanced Women’s Chorus each received ratings of “Superior” at the North Carolina State Music Performance Adjudication (MPA) held at Wake Forest University Tuesday, March 11, marking the seventh year in a row that both choirs have received the highest possible rating at this event.

Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation and its propane and heating fuels subsidiary, Blue Ridge Energies, were recently named as two of the top 30 Best Employers in North Carolina for 2014.

This summer, Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Continuing Education Division will once again offer “Extreme Super Summer Camp” for kids ages 5 and up.
