World-Renowned and Recorded Virtuoso Classical Guitarist Peter Fletcher Returns to Watauga County Public Library!

North Carolina's MerleFest, considered one of the premier music festivals in the country, will sponsor a diverse collection of artists showcasing their music as part of the Bluegrass Ramble during the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA)'s World of Bluegrass multi-day event in Raleigh, N.C., this fall.

 

Summer has come and gone and it’s time to begin planning for the most beautiful time of the year here in the High Country. Yes, autumn has arrived, and the folks at Joe Shannon’s Mountain Home Music are excited to announce their 2015 Fall Concert Series. Rodney Sutton, JSMHM director says, “We are presenting a total of eight concerts beginning in October that feature some of the region’s favorite musicians and bands, but we will also be introducing some exciting new groups to our audiences.”

BLOWING ROCK N.C. (September 2015) – For many years, late September was the time when cyclists from all over the Southeast made their way to Western North Carolina for the Bridge to Bridge ride from Lenoir to the top of Grandfather Mountain. Bridge to Bridge is no more...however, this year there’s a new ride that promises to bring riders back to the High Country: The Blowing Rock Fall Classic ride on Saturday, September 26.

Charlotte T. Ross, also known as “the Legend Lady,” has collected or composed more than 3,400 tales of legends and laughter from Appalachia. She is an energetic performer, playwright, folklorist, story-teller, and speaker with experience in storytelling concerts, theatrical performances, conferences, school residencies, and workshops. Above all, she is a teacher.
