Diabetes is a chronic disease that has the potential to cause serious complications such as blindness, kidney damage, cardiovascular disease, and lower limb amputation; however, diabetes is manageable and people with diabetes can lower the occurrence of these and other diabetes complications by controlling blood glucose, blood pressure, and blood lipids.

In an effort to raise awareness about the seriousness of diabetes, the Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute Nursing I students will be hosting a diabetes health fair on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Boone Mall from 9:00am to 3:00pm. The public is invited to attend. For more information, contact Ms. Glenda Reedy, RN, nursing instructor, at (828) 263-5372. Find out how you are not just another number.
