AWF Grants $57k to Area Nonprofits PDF Print

Appalachian Women's Fund recently distributed $57,000 in grants to fourteen deserving organizations across our mountain communities. These nonprofits have demonstrated a history of helping women and girls on their path to safety, empowerment, and self-sufficiency.

A Safe Home for Everyone (ASHE)

Jefferson, NC

$5,000 for financial assistance to survivors of domestic violence



Boone, NC

$5,000 for summer school scholarships


Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture

Northwest NC

$3,000 for small grants to female farmers


The Children's Council

Boone, NC

$4,000 for the Parents as Teachers outreach program


Community Care Clinic

Boone, NC

$4,000 for the Women’s Health Program


Domestic Abuse is Not Acceptable (DANA)

Sparta, NC

$4,000 for financial assistance to survivors of domestic violence


Girls on the Run of the High Country

Watauga, Ashe, Avery, Wilkes

$2,500 for participant scholarships


Hospitality House

Boone, NC

$5,000 to help women in emergency and transitional housing


Hunger & Health Coalition

Boone, NC

$4,000 for food and supplements for women over 60


Mountain Alliance

Boone, NC

$4,000 for the Leadership Initiative for Female Teens (LIFT)


New Opportunity School for Women

Banner Elk, NC

$4,000 for participant scholarships

$5,000 for domestic violence and sexual assault support groups
