Appalachian District Health Department, Watauga County Animal Control, and area veterinarians are partnering to provide a rabies vaccination clinic for cats and dogs the week of June 6-10. The schedule for Watauga County rabies clinic is as follows: Appalachian New River on Monday, June 6 from 8:00am to 6:00pm, Watauga Veterinary Hospital on Tuesday, June 7 from 2:00-4:00pm, Blue Ridge Veterinarian on Tuesday, June 7 from 2:30-5:00pm, and Animal Medical Center of Boone on Thursday, June 9 from 4:00-6:00pm.

No appointments are necessary, so drop in with all of your cats and dogs and pay only $9 each for a one year rabies vaccination during the time specified at each location.

Rabies vaccinations are extremely important to protect your pet and your own health. Currently, there is a shortage of medicine for humans that have been exposed to rabies, so acting now is especially important. Take a few minutes out to protect your health and the health of others and get your pets vaccinated.

If you have questions about the clinic, please call the Environmental Health office of the health department at 828-264-4995. Additionally, the veterinary offices may be reached at the following numbers: Appalachian New River 264-5621, Watauga Veterinary Hospital 297-3300, Blue Ridge Veterinarian 963-6641, and Animal Medical Center of Boone 264-7007.
