In honor of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords who survived the tragic shooting earlier this year in Arizona, the American Red Cross is offering free hands-only CPR training on Saturday March 19th (her birthday).

This is a non-certificate class that will last approximately 1 hour.  Participants will be taught the new compression-only CPR technique as well as some basic skills in controlling bleeding and dealing with shock.  Classes are scheduled to be held at the Watauga Red Cross at 331 Queen Street in Boone at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.  If these classes start getting full, more times may be added.  Because we expect a large turn-out for this event, pre-registration is recommended and can be done at  (Look for the Save a Life Saturday classes on March 19th.)  You can also call the chapter at 828-264-8226.
