|Restaurant Week in Blowing Rock|

Some of Blowing Rock’s best dining venues will be showcasing special lunch and dinner menus during Restaurant Week, Monday, June 1 through Sunday, June 7. To date, ten restaurants have signed on to the program, offering up to three-course meals priced between $15 and $30, according to organizers at the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce.

Summer is just around the corner, but running ahead of the blistering hot temperatures is the bi-annual Toe River Studio Tour, June 5-7. It’s this coming weekend and a perfect time for a drive around the Toe River Valley, seeing…and buying the country’s best of the best in arts and crafts. From Friday [noon to 4pm] through Sunday [10am to 5pm each day], artists will welcome visitors to their places of working, living, and being in the mountains around Mitchell and Yancey Counties.

The Watauga County Arts Council will hold its 2nd Annual Spring Into Summer ArtsFest on June 6, 2015 from 10AM to 4PM, at the Blue Ridge ArtSpace located at 377 Shadowline Drive in Boone. There will be a variety of artists and arts organizations showing their work, including members of the Potters of the Blue Ridge and several fiber artists from the area. Artists who are interested in having a booth should check the Arts Council’s website at www.watauga-arts.org for an application form or come by the Blue Ridge ArtSpace before May 23, 2015.

Volunteering is a great way to have a little fun while giving back to some of your favorite hiking spots. Join our park’s staff for a day of trail maintenance and get a feel for what goes into managing a highly popular hiking destination. Volunteers will learn how to safely and effectively use tools, be shown sustainable trail design techniques and become familiar with trail labor.
