“I’ll go ahead and place blame.  We followed not only state statutes but we also followed their town ordinance and they refused to abide by it so I’ll place the blame on the Town of Boone.”  Watauga Commission chair Nathan Miller, angered over the Town of Boone’s rejection of appointees to the Boone Planning Board from the extraterritorial district, and he suggested a remedy, “What I would like to do is file a civil lawsuit and ask for an injunction to stop the planning board from meeting until our ETJ members are seated.”  But other board members wanted to be somewhat conciliatory—Perry Yates, “I’d like to say we call for a public hearing and get our people seated. I’d also like to call for a special meeting with the Town Council for clarification of this, and then if that don’t work I don’t know where to go from there.”  Yates’ motion passed 4 to 1 with chairman Miller in opposition.
